This project attempts to bring the Eastern Partner Countries progressively closer to the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and improve cooperation among themselves. In every Partner Country, the review and analysis of resources and mechanisms for prevention, preparedness and response to the natural and manmade disasters will be carried out in order to enhance civil protection systems.
In the framework of the project, an Electronic Regional Risk Atlas with the components for national use will be developed. The implementation of the project is led by the expert team based in Kiev in tight cooperation with National Project Coordinators in every country.
JumpStart Georgia is involved in the first phase of the project. For evaluation of Risk Assessment layers, base layers are needed, such as a digital elevation model, boundaries of settlements and communities, road network, river network, infrastructures, critical facilities (schools, hospitals, etc.). Also needed are the resource layers (fire stations, hydrants, sand sacks, etc.). Currently JumpStart is involved in creating and processing the data for the basic layer.
