In 2014, Article 42 of the Constitution, a human rights organization based in Tbilisi, Georgia asked JumpStart if there were some creative ways to engage the public in the issue of the gender wage gap. This was part of JumpStart’s partnership with Article 42 in a joint project advancing the issue of gender equality in Georgia. In Georgia, men, on average, earn 39% more than women. We decided to try engaging Georgian audiences with a video game, JumpStart’s first ever. JumpStart found and used the latest data available describing the wage gap and built around that data a game that contextualized individuals own experience within the larger picture that the data depicted. JumpStart produced the soundtrack, created the graphics, and coded the logic driving the game.
